Overview
Since 1972, Covenant House has served and advocated for youth and young families experiencing homelessness, human trafficking, and exploitation. Our overarching goal is to end homelessness among youth and young families by helping them achieve housing stability, heal from trauma, tap into their innate resilience, and hone their interests and skills to forge new pathways to independence. This work is carried out across Covenant House sites in 34 cities in the US, Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Chief Program Officer, the Director, Program Data will be responsible for managing the data and reporting needs of the Covenant House International (CHI) Program and Child and Youth Protection (CYP) teams. In this role, you will partner closely with CHI’s Research, Evaluation & Learning (RE&L) team and will have dotted reporting lines to CHI’s VP, Research, Evaluation & Learning, SVP, Program and VP, Child & Youth Protection. You will have the opportunity to closely collaborate with site program and data teams across our international federation. All work in this area will be undertaken with a spirit of collaboration and commitment to partnership with Covenant House site leaders and designed from a strengths-based, culturally sensitive, trauma-informed lens. Your work will directly support our mission to end youth homelessness by ensuring we utilize program data to improve our programs and services and enhance our impact and outcomes on behalf of the youth we serve.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Data Management and Reporting
- Prepare site-specific and federation-wide quarterly and annual program and CYP data reports and analyses
- Develop new dashboards in Tableau and Smartsheet to facilitate reporting, analysis and quality improvement efforts
- Co-lead quarterly data review meetings with sites related to the CHI Program Model, Employment & Education programs, and Behavioral Health programs
- Ensure data quality and integrity by supporting sites to review and update their data as needed prior to the quarterly and annual review processes
- Conduct data analyses to determine success characteristics, trends, and other key learnings to enhance safety, program delivery and youth satisfaction across the federation
- Collaborate with the CHI RE&L and site teams to improve existing and build out new program touchpoints and reports in Efforts to Outcomes (ETO), CHI’s federation-wide data platform, and support ETO system maintenance
- Develop protocols and support documentation, facilitate site access to touchpoints, and deliver training to guide sites in the use of touchpoints and outcome measures
- Support the annual Youth Safety and Satisfaction (YSS) Survey reporting process by completing statistical significance tests, written reports documenting key trends, and presentations on site-specific and federation-wide reports
- Prepare written reports documenting trends and the impact and effectiveness of CHI’s programs and services
Additional Responsibilities
- Lead monthly cross-team data meetings with the Program, CYP and RE&L teams
- Conduct ad-hoc research and data analyses on topics as requested
- Collaborate on the production and dissemination of publications, presentations, research resources and briefing/white papers designed to inform the CHI community, the homeless services sector, and policy makers
- Collaborate on lifting up the learnings and best practices from across the Covenant House federation by presenting at conferences focused on youth homelessness
- Collaborate on the development of data related training for CHI’s new Learning Management System
- Collaborate on development and fundraising efforts, including but not limited to grant proposals, reports, publications and fundraising events
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- High level skills in data management, data analysis, development of statistical data reports, and data visualization
- Proficiency with SPSS or other statistical software
- Exceptional Excel and Power Point skills; you can leverage these tools to make your data tell a compelling story
- Strong technical experience with MS365 and SharePoint; you are effectively a master of these programs
- Experience with Tableau, PowerBI or a similar software
- Strong analytic, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Highly developed communication skills, both verbal and written; ability to interact with a diverse range of people
- Strong capacity to multi-task, independently manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Self-starter with ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with a curious and collaborative mindset
- Experience working in a multi-cultural environment and working with people from a variety of backgrounds with a customer service/servant leader mindset
Required Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in psychology, social work, public health, data analytics or data science
- Five+ years of experience in program evaluation and/or data analysis in a human services organization or government agency, preferably child/youth services
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Qualifications
- Experience with our tools; Smartsheet and Canva
- Prior experience with Efforts to Outcomes (ETO) and proficiency with ETO report creation
- Bilingual in Spanish with strong written and verbal communication
Travel Requirements
- Occasional travel to sites across the Covenant House federation to train staff on the use of ETO touchpoints and program outcome measures
- Ability to travel once per year to New York City in January for our annual in-person traditions: our Staff Day of Renewal and our Holiday Celebration
- Outside of occasional site visits, the Staff Day of Renewal and Holiday Celebration, this position is 100% remote
